BEHIND THE MUSIC

I've always had a love for music.

Growing up in Nashville, I was enamored by The Temptations, The Jackson 5, Hank Williams Sr., The Beatles, James Brown, Tupac, Tribe Called Quest...etc. Musicians who created a new lane in music, from any genre, had my intrigue & respect.

I began producing & engineering at 13 with very little guidance. At 18 I picked up a guitar, expanding my writing capabilities. This was also the year that Jesus came into my life. Prior to this my identity was rooted in things that were fleeting. Things that only provided a momentary satisfaction verses an eternal one.

I then began to worship God through my music. Everything I did became worship. The conversations I would have with others became intentional, therefore the lyrics I would pen became intentional as well. I was no longer throwing rhymes together to create punchlines but I was writing out of the overflow of this new hope in Jesus.

I moved to Houston, TX at 19 and apprenticed under producer Bass Heavy. As my roots grew deeper in Houston, I connected with The Food Audio, Calvin Venus. He supported my music and sacrificed to help me create a sound that blended the boundaries of hip hop & folk.

After relocating to Northside Village in 2015, I began leading worship at a local church, Kerusso Grace.
